Privacy Policy
Last Updated: November 2, 2026
NVB Playgrounds, Inc. ("we," "us," or "Playgrounds.com") operates the Playgrounds.com website and the PLAYSafe Inspect mobile application (together, the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information. When you create an account or are added to an organization, we collect your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and password (stored in hashed form). If your account is provisioned through single sign-on with Google or Microsoft, we receive your name and email from that provider.
Inspection Data. When you use PLAYSafe Inspect or the web application, we collect the information you create: inspection results, item-level notes, photos you capture, signatures you provide, work order updates, issue reports, and timestamps of when you completed actions. If your device provides location information for a specific feature (such as an anonymous QR-code report), we collect those coordinates only for that feature.
Device Information. When you use the mobile app, we collect your device type (iOS or Android), operating system version, app version, and a push notification token if you grant notification permission. We use this token to deliver assignment alerts and other notifications you have enabled.
QR Code Scans. When you or a community member scans a QR code we have placed on playground equipment, we receive the scan event, the QR code identifier, and any report content submitted. Anonymous scans include the submitting device's anonymous identifier and IP address for abuse prevention.
Authentication and Security. We log sign-in attempts (timestamp, IP address, success or failure) for security purposes, including detecting and stopping brute-force password attacks.
Diagnostic Information. When the app encounters an error, we collect technical information about the error (stack trace, app version, device type) through our error monitoring provider (Sentry) so we can fix bugs. This does not include the content of your inspections or photos.
Cookies and Local Storage. The web application uses cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. The mobile app uses device storage to support offline use — your inspections, photos, and work orders are stored locally on your device until they sync to our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the Services, including syncing your inspections, work orders, and photos across your devices
- Send transactional notifications (assignment alerts, inspection amendments, work order changes) via email, SMS, or push notification, according to your preferences
- Authenticate you and protect your account
- Detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access
- Improve the Services, including diagnosing and fixing bugs
- Communicate with you about your account, updates to the Services, or customer support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We share information with:
Your Organization. Inspection data, work orders, photos, and signatures you create are visible to other authorized members of your organization (administrators, fellow inspectors, maintenance workers, and assigned third parties). This is the core purpose of the Services.
Service Providers. We use third parties to operate the Services. These providers process information only as needed to perform their function:
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Twilio — SMS notification delivery
- Google Cloud Storage — secure photo and signature storage
- Sentry — error monitoring
- Replit — application hosting
- Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notification delivery
- Google and Microsoft — single sign-on (only when you choose to sign in this way)
Legal Requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Playgrounds.com, our users, or others.
Business Transfers. If Playgrounds.com is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account information and inspection data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we delete or de-identify personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, accounting, or legitimate business purposes (such as resolving disputes or enforcing our agreements). Inspection data that has been shared with your organization may be retained by that organization independently of your account.
Photos stored in Google Cloud Storage are retained until the associated inspection or issue is deleted by your organization, subject to the same retention rules.
Authentication logs and security event records are retained for up to 90 days.
5. Your Rights and Choices
Access and Correction. You can view and update most account information from within the Services. For other requests, contact us at the email address below.
Account Deletion. You can delete your account from within the application at Settings → Account → Danger Zone → Delete Account, or by contacting us at privacy@playgrounds.com. Deletion requires confirmation via a link sent to your email address. Once confirmed, your personal information is removed from our systems immediately. Inspection records you created within an organization are not automatically deleted from that organization, since they may be part of the organization's compliance record.
Notification Preferences. You can enable or disable email, SMS, and push notifications by category from within the Services' notification settings.
Push Notification Permission. You can revoke push notification permission at any time from your device's operating system settings.
Biometric Authentication. Biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint) is optional and off by default. When enabled, the authentication happens entirely on your device — we never see, transmit, or store your biometric data.
Cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Review, Survey, Referral, and Recap Emails. After an inspection, or once you have used the Services for a while, we may email you a short review request or a one-question survey, and we may invite you to refer colleagues through our referral program. If you turn on the quarterly recap, we email you a summary of your organization's activity once a quarter, which may include our referral offer; it is off unless you turn it on. Every one of these emails has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can turn each type on or off in the Services' notification settings. We use reviews and survey answers to improve the Services. A review comment is shown publicly only if you tick the box allowing it, and then with your first name only. If you sign up through someone's referral link, that person can see your name, your organization, and whether you have become a customer.
Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and other U.S. states with privacy laws. You have rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of your personal information, and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do not sell or share for cross-context behavioral advertising). To exercise these rights, contact us at the email address below.
Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. Our processing is based on contractual necessity (to provide the Services you have signed up for) and legitimate interests (to secure the Services and prevent abuse). You have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict processing, and data portability. You can lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
6. Children
The Services are designed for use by adult professionals (facility directors, inspectors, maintenance staff, administrators) in their work managing playground safety. The Services are not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
We protect your information using industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for sensitive data, hashed passwords, brute-force protection on sign-in, optional biometric authentication on mobile devices, and access controls based on your role within your organization. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International Data Transfers
The Services are operated from the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date above. If the changes are significant, we will notify you through the Services or by email.
